Under the Regulated Health Professions Act, the Councils of all regulated health professions in Manitoba are required to establish a Continuing Competency Program (CPP). The purpose of our program is to ensure the provision of optimal quality care to the public, to promote the maintenance of competence of opticians in Manitoba and to enhance their practice. One of the components of the CCP is Practice Audits.

The goal of a Practice Audit is to allow individual registrants and dispensaries to demonstrate competence while providing a positive learning experience. Registrants and dispensaries will be required to participate in a Practice Audit if they are randomly selected from the register or the registrant is selected by other criteria such as concerns about a registrants practice or a dispensary which have been identified during a Complaint investigation. It is anticipated that each registrant holding an active license and dispensary will participate in a Practice Audit once every 5- 10 years.
