The Opticians Act requires the Opticians of Manitoba (OOM) to grant licenses and maintain a directory of Licensed Opticians in Manitoba. The Act authorizes the OOM to enact bylaws for the governance and discipline of the profession. Therefore, the OOM may cancel a license and remove a name from the registry. The OOM will also inform employers that an Optician’s License to Practice has been cancelled or that he/she is no longer on the registry.
All Licensed Opticians are required to display their License to Practice in a prominent location in their place of business. If you cannot see your Optician’s License to Practice, ask to see it, and ensure that it is valid for the current year.
OOM endeavours to ensure that our online directory provides complete, accurate information about our members. However, if you need to confirm a member’s current status, please contact us directly.
